  1. Are you coming near the great state of Minnesota at all? I would love to catch up with you in person about your travels! I also want you to know that I love you and admire you so much for your big Chinese balls for pursuing this journey! I am so excited for you that I can only write in exclamation points!

    • Jules! I was in Minnesota a couple of days ago, but sadly we were just driving through from Michigan to South Dakota. I would’ve LOVED to see you but Minneapolis was just a little too out of the way. Maybe we could phone chat some time? Miss you! Can’t wait to catch up!

  2. Stumbled onto your blog recently and just wanted to say, Thanks! lol ..Recently, I’ve been apprehensive about the thought of longterm WWOOFing, and my decision to sell a lot of my possessions to prepare for the journey. Reading about your development and seeing your photos have really encouraged me. Are there any farms that you would not recommend? Also, are there any awesome farms that really stand out?

    • Where are you thinking of WWOOFing? If you’re going to be on the west coast of the US at all, I would highly recommend Kern Family Farm in North Fork, CA. That’s where I am right now, and it’s the best farm I’ve been on so far. For general searching, I would just be real clear about what kind of atmosphere you want. There are farms on the website that are really small family gardens, where you might be by yourself a lot but get to have more one-on-one time with the farmer. Or there are more established places that have several WWOOFers at a time for more of a community feel. Feel free to ask me any questions!

  3. I am aiming for the west coast. The Kern Family Farm was high on my list. I’m glad to see that it’s a cool place. Are there any other farms that you’ve heard of that regularly hold several WWOOFers at a time? I’m very interested in interacting with lots of travelers at once. Thanks again for the info!

    • I’m not too familiar with many other farms out here. California itself has a ton of farms. I’d recommend just reading through descriptions on the WWOOF website or contacting the farms directly and asking how many WWOOFers they have. You’ll usually get a response pretty quickly. If you’re looking for a good WWOOFer community, I doubt many farms on the west coast could top the Kerns.
